Meet The Man Behind The Matador, Bass G Fam

SUPPLIED BY BASS FAM CREATIVE

Partly inspired by a tale as old as time and writer, director, producer Bass G. Fam’s own life, Matador is a personal open letter to oneself, to lovers and friends, an entertaining, fiery collection of vignettes fusing burlesque, dance and circus acts to tell a thematic story. Matador takes audiences on a very intimate, emotional and sometimes confronting journey through the many facets of love. A journey of self-discovery, identity and sexuality, of lust, sex and passion. The show also explores the trials and tribulations of love, from the pain of unrequited love to the effects of infidelity on a relationship.

Comprised of a colourful cast of 14 incredibly skilled performers, Matador features non-stop entertainment from start to finish. High energy commercial dance pieces, beautiful, touching contemporary and ballet acts as well as steamy latin numbers intertwine with saucy burlesque acts, pole dancing and hair raising aerial and circus acts. Matador is a celebration of love, acceptance, friendship and the bonds that tie us together.

Bass G Fam, Matador‘s writer, producer and director.

Bass is a passionate storyteller, a dreamer and a multi-faceted creative at heart. With a colourful career spanning over a decade and his work showcased around the world, this RMIT University graduate founded Bass Fam Creative, a design agency providing a range of creative services including graphics, web design, digital illustration, photography and theatre design. His design client list includes Dannii Minogue, L’Oréal Professional Australia, Patrick Studios Australia, Dracula’s Cabaret Gold Coast, and Slippery Stone Bali to name a few.

Bass made a name for himself in the theatre world when he worked on campaigns, stage designs and costumes for numerous clients and theatre shows such as ‘Le Male’ – an all-male burlesque dance show, ‘Sydney After Dark’ at Planet Hollywood, Vegas and ‘Chadstone Christmas Stories’ in support of The Starlight Children’s Foundation at Chadstone Shopping Centre.

He then went on to became Creative Director of a Melbourne based theatre company, writing, designing and directing sell out theatre shows at a number of reputable venues around Melbourne including The Palais Theatre, The National Theatre and The Palms at Crown. Bass’s vibrant visuals and bold aesthetic has seen his work feature on theatre show campaigns in London’s West End and currently around the world.
