Lope Navo Releases “Raw” – Capturing The Essence Of Male Beauty

RAW (LOPE NAVO / SUPPLIED)

Lope Navo’s first book Stark, captured images that celebrated the LGBTQIA+ community and was released to critical acclaim. To follow that success, Navo has launched a sequel erotic book entitled Raw. His latest work took years to compile, shot in multiple countries, and culminates in a hardcover book celebrating the male form in all its beauty.

Lope Navo’s work has taken him to the vast deserts of the Middle East, the green archipelagos of South East Asia, the fashion capitals of Europe and the United States Of America.

Having worked with iconic fashion house Dior and the Los Angeles-based surfer brand Mossimo, Navo’s images have been published in Esquire, L’Officiel Hommes, L’Officiel, Men’s Health, Forbes.com, The Advocate and GQJapan.com.

Christopher Harrity of The Advocate magazine writes for the foreword of the book, “It is the immediacy of Lope Navo’s photos of men that grab us…”

“The kinetic moment feels as if captured by luck, by magic, by an animal instinct. The toil of a studied photo portrait with studio assistants and publishers seems to not be a part of this sudden moment. A mixture of trust and a preternatural inner sense of when to release the shutter is a skill born of years of practice and surrender to the moment,” writes Harrity.

Although Navo has had significant experience photographing figures in the fashion industry, Raw presents stills of men from all walks of life. Navo aimed to shoot the sexiest guys across the globe regardless their backgrounds. Raw features actors and supermodels, firemen, adventurers, acrobats, dancers, pro-ultra runners, gym instructors, photographers and surfers.

Lope Navo says, “It took decades of mind-numbing 40-hour connecting flights, and countless lost hard drives and luggages, to accomplish.”
