One parade group to look out for this Mardi Gras will be LGBTI Latinos In Sydney, with over 60 participants representing a multitude of countries. Alberto Guerrero of Chile will be among them, and he recently popped in to the Teamm8 store in Sydney for a costume fitting and body paint test. DNA went along to catch this behind-the-scenes sneak peek video.
The idea for the group originated with David Rojas Cometta, who told DNA, “The LGBTI Latinos In Sydney parade entry will celebrate people from Latin America who are in Sydney and all over Australia. We will celebrates our dance, music, costume and our freedom to be LGBTI in Australia,” he said. “We have a strong culture of music, colour, dance and our style is unique to Latin America. We would like to share our culture with Australia and the Mardi Gras audience.”
