Australia’s very own Jordan Bruno has won Mr Gay World 2018 at the finale held in Knysna South Africa on Sunday, making his Australia’s first ever winner of the much sought-after title.
Jordan won 6 of the possible twelve category awards available over the week-long competition, including: Personal Interview, Social Responsibility, Best In Formal Wear, Public (Online) Vote, Photogenic and Face of 2018.
DNA spoke with Jordan after his win:
Jordan Bruno: It feels surreal to have won this competition. That panel of judges that select the winner of Mr Gay World are all leaders in the LGBTI community so to be acknowledged by them means the world. I’m incredibly proud.
DNA: What happens next?
Jordan: I need to get home and sort my life out first. I can’t wait to release my second cookbook with all profits going to LGBTI charities and launch a series of videos educating different concepts within the LGBTI community
DNA: Previously you spoke about the “rivalry” between Australia and our neighbour New Zealand, the had won the twice. Did you rub in the win?
Jordan: NZ was my closest friend heading into the competition and I’m leaving with even more respect for him (Ricky Devine-White). Honestly thought he deserved to win with all the incredible work he has achieved.
Mr Gay World 2019 will be held in Hong Kong.
