Israel Folau Loses Sponsored Car Over Anti-Gay Commentary
Israel Folau has reportedly had his complimentary sponsored car confiscated by Land Rover in response to the controversial Wallabies star’s continued anti-gay social media posts.
Land Rover gave Folau a complimentary car when the company signed on to be a sponsor of Rugby Australia.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Land Rover disagrees with Folau’s views and claimed he was never an official ambassador for the company.
This should be the end of Folau’s anti-gay commentary, Wallabies coach Michael Chieka claimed in an interview with Macquarie Sports Radio that Folau will no longer post any more inflammatory content.
“What’s happened has happened, it’s been dealt with now, and it’s not going to be ongoing, so it’s not going to be an issue,” Cheika said.
“There’s been a lot of conjecture on this from all different sides, left wing, right wing and all that type of stuff. But we need to be focusing on the footy, and getting ourselves clear on a big series against the northern hemisphere champions.”
