The recently released short film ‘In a Heartbeat’, created by animation students Beth David and Esteban Bravo, is described as a story of ‘A closeted boy runs the risk of being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down the boy of his dreams.’
Funded by a Kickstarter campaign that raised more than $14,000 last December, the official Youtube video has gained more than 5 million views on its first day.
“The original pitch was a story between a boy and a girl,” David told NBC News. “But it wasn’t until we made it about a same-gender crush that the idea really started to take form and resonate with Esteban and I. We realised that we had something that could potentially be really special to us.”
