Yep, this guy has a say in how our country is run!
Liberal MP Kevin Andrews believes that discrimination against same-sex couples is only the beginning of discrimination law changes Australia needed in relation to marriage.
Andrews, who believes that Dean Smith’s marriage equality bill is ‘woefully inadequate’, would like to see discrimination laws in relation to marriage for a range religious reasons and religious organisations extended to not only all faiths but all conscientious objectors.
When talking about wanting the law changed to safeguard conscientious objectors like bakers for openly discriminating against couples marrying based on their faith Andrews justified his position by explaining:
“If that individual wants to do that, I don’t have a problem with that, nor do I have a problem the other way around,”
When asked if Islamic bakers should be able to refuse to bake cakes for Jewish weddings, Andrews responded: “I don’t have a problem with that I don’t have a problem with that at all.”
