Dustin Lance Black Responds To Homophobic Comments From Baby Announcement

After sharing a picture of an ultrasound of their first child with the announcement that Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black were going to be dads, the couple received a mixture of response, including hateful attacks from social media, religious groups and media who claimed that gay parenting was “not normal.”

Daily Mail columnist Richard Littlejohn’s wrote an opinion piece titled “Please Don’t Pretend Two Dads Is The New Normal,” in which he called their announcement a “publicity stunt” and asked readers to “pass the sick bag”.

The Daily Mail has since had several brands end their partnership with the publication because of the homophobic article that was written by Littlejohn.

Responding to the negativity, Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black responded:

“My reaction to others’ hate, bigotry & misinformation will not include anger or hate. For me, the path forward is lit with curiosity, listening, correcting the record when possible, and best as I can, leading with an example of strength & love.”
