Australia Close To Celebrating 2500 Same-Sex Marriages

‘Hey, would you look at that, the sky hasn’t fallen in.’ Junkee media has reported after they contacted the Australian Births, Deaths and Marriages departments for information on how many gay and lesbian couples have said ‘I do’ since same-sex marriage was legalised last year.

The results:

NSW has had the most same-sex marriages – 853
Victoria – 674
Queensland – 374
Western Australia – 292
South Australia – 162
Tasmania – 66
The ACT – 48
The Northern Territory – 21

That’s a grand total of 2490 same-sex weddings across Australia, a cute graphic was created to represent the stats!
