RuPaul In “Stop! That! Train!” A Must-See Potential Trainwreck!
The RuPaul’s Drag Race universe is getting its first feature film, and the teaser trailer for Stop! That! Train! dropped on 28 March. It looks exactly as ridiculous as you’d hope.

RuPaul is Madam President
The action-comedy is directed by Adam Shankman, best known for the 2007 remake of Hairspray. RuPaul stars as President Judy Gagwell, who must deal with a runaway train headed straight for disaster. When someone tells her straight that the Glamazonian Express is barrelling into a storm, her response is simple: “Tell it to me gay.” That sets the tone for the whole film.
The plot is gloriously absurd
Best friends Tess (Ginger Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee) are train stewardesses who swap their shifts on the Stank Rail for the glitzy Glamazonian Express. When a catastrophic “Stormaganza” threatens to send the high-speed train crashing into Los Angeles, the pair must team up with the first-class attendants, played by Symone, Brooke Lynn Hytes and Marcia Marcia Marcia, along with President Gagwell, to stop the disaster.
If it sounds like Airplane! crossed with one of those Drag Race acting challenges, that’s the point. The film draws on scripted skits the show is known for, including parodies like “Good God Girl, Get Out” and “Gay’s Anatomy.”
A cast list that goes on and on
Beyond the Drag Race regulars, the supporting cast includes Latrice Royale, Monét X Change, Michelle Visage, Rachel Bloom, Matt Rogers, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Chris Parnell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Charo, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Natasha Leggero, Drew Droege, Raven-Symoné and Joel McHale. Lisa Rinna and Nicole Richie also appear.
Gellar plays herself. In one trailer moment, a fellow passenger approaches her on the train, not to ask if she’s Sarah Michelle Gellar, but whether she’s sitting in their seat.
When can we watch it?
Stop! That! Train! arrives in cinemas on 12 June 2026, pushed back from an earlier 29 May date. The film was written by Christina Friel and Connor Wright, and produced by World Of Wonder alongside Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell, RuPaul Charles and Shankman.
It’s the first time the Drag Race franchise has expanded into a full theatrical release.
