37 Per Cent Of Australians Support New Laws To Protect Religious Freedoms

The latest Essential Report has indicated that 37% of Australian’s support new laws enshrining religious freedoms in response to the legalisation of same-sex marriage in 2017.

These laws could have the ability to legalise sexual orientation-based discrimination under the guise of religion and religious belief.

This could include allowing religious schools and hospitals to hire and fire staff based on their sexuality along with further discriminatory powers awarded to religious organisations on top of what they already have under current state laws.

According to the report, 26% oppose new law enshrining religious freedoms and 37% of those polled say they don’t know.
