A teenage boy has allegedly been sexually assaulted by a man after meeting on the gay dating app Grindr.
A 34-year-old man was arrested late last week and has since been charged with aggravated sexual assault and using a carriage service to procure a child under 16 for sexual activity.
Reports indicate that the man sexually assaulted the child before leaving the area.
Police were called and the boy was taken to Randwick Children’s Hospital for examination.
A similar incident occurred in Australia late last year, at the time DNA reported that 40-year-old, Moud Ul Hasan Nur was charged with the rape a 13-year-old boy in his front yard in the suburb of Doonside after they had been chatting via the same app.
Earlier this month, The Sunday Times published an investigation that reported a 13-year-old boy was raped or sexually abused by at least 21 men using Grindr in the UK.
