George Michael Film And Album Celebrate Music Icon

George Michael Listen Without Prejudice MTV Unplugged

The re-release of George Michael’s Listen Without Prejudice as a double album including his MTV Unplugged recording is great news for music fans looking for further listening treats and some rarities. The original Listen album from 1990 included the hits Freedom! 90, Praying For Time and Waiting For The Day. The MTV bonus album, recorded live in London in 1996, includes acoustic versions of Freedom! 90, Fastlove and Father Figure.

Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista starred in the Freedom 90 video.

For Wham! fans there’s also Everything She Wants, but the highlight is the Nile Rodgers reworking of Fantasy, a song George always intended as a single and which he loved performing live, first on his Cover To Cover tour in 1991 and ten years later on the 25 Live tour.

Along with the album comes a star-studded documentary directed by George himself. The film includes interviews with fellow musicians Mark Ronson, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Mary J Blige and others, comedians Ricky Gervais and James Corden and supermodels Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista. George Michael: Freedom airs on October 16 in the UK with other territories to follow. George and Nile Rodgers were working on the documentary just days before George’s untimely death at Christmas last year.
