Okay, consider yourselves spoilt for choice.
Your choices of Mates Of The Month through the year have turned up a raft of twelve hotties worhty of a bestselling calendar. But before we go on, let's spare a thought for poor Edilson Nascimento, site fave and cover model of
DNA #107, who was up for a Mate Of The Month gong in January, April and August, but didn't make the cut once.
You may reflect on poor Edilson when you cast your vote this time. It's that old Australian Idol maxim: don't assume exerybody else is voting for your favourite and so they're easily gonna win - you've gotta vote for the one you like, or they may not make it across the line first (and you can come back once every 24 hours and vote again).
Anyway, let's break down
the field.CHRISTIAN MOUSEL: A surprise winner in January, coming to us via Playgirl and carrying a butt that few can beat. May not have the overall hotness to take the title and his victory seems to belong to another time - does he still light a fire for DNAmagazine.com.au visitors?
EVAN WADLE: The King of DNAmagazine.com.au has to be the favourite going into this competition, having proved his popularity with site readers by adding to his 2007 win with TWO more wins in 2008. Evan is the Mate to beat <del>off</del>. He has only one place in the ballot despite his two victories but we don't see that as a problem. The absolute odds on favourite, but no shoo-in in a field this deep with spunk.
MARCO DAPPER: This dapper dark horse is not to be discounted, with his solid, pert pecs able to edge across the tape just a nipple ahead of the rest of the field. Eternally popular on this site and around the internet - could this be his year?
SMAILEY CONSTANTINO: What a differencee a tight pair of bikini briefs can make. Smailey made a big impression in April, but we haven't heard boo out of him since. Are his fans sitting on their hands? We'll soon find out.
KERRY DEGMAN: Is a bit of an all talk, no action case with Kerry with endless praise heaped in his direction by site visitors, yet a lack of real support in several months of Mate of the Month competiions for which he was eligible. His only win his year was a shared title with Smailey Constantino - with ambivalent fans like that, can he break through a field this strong?
BRYAN THOMAS: Bryan's stunning shots, where he sniffed his post-gym undies, vaulted him to a convincing victory. Has he washed the undies yet? That may be the key. Scoring the cover of
DNA #104 can't have hurt his case either. Defintely a serious contender for the title - look for a top three finish, at least.
MATTHEW BORN: Matty scored the cover of
DNA #101 and also took that month's Mate of the Month title - a unique record he can call his own. Will is chunky sexiness carry him to the title? Hmm, somehow we're predicting a top 5 place at best.
CHRIS D: The man from nowhere swept all before him to take a very unexpected title. Will his husky charms carry him to the winner's dais? We suspect not, but his strong fan base cannot be discounted.
MATTHEW MITCHAM: Diving may be his forte, but Australians are nothing if not patriotic. A strong chance to take the title, or run a very close second or third.
JED HILL: This man mountain is the mystery man of the race. His looks and sexiness are absolutely undeniable and easily on a par - to say the least - with the rest of the field. With the right momentum behind him, he could steamroll over the entire field. Watch for him to figure in a very close finish, and maybe even take the title.
EVAN WADLE: See above. Bet against him at your peril.
LEVI POULTER: Pulling up the rear is someone who contonuously shows off his rear and who cannot be underestimated - his popularity is boundless, and he is a real wild horse here. Don't be surprised to see nothing but his backside as he chases the title all the way to the end.
Anyway, that's our take - you will no doubt have your own favourites.
