Date: 18-Apr-2008
This is the first in an ongoing series where we meet the photographers responsible for so many of the knockout images we feature on DNAmagazinecom.au every day. Today, we chat with Adam Bouska, who shot Ryan Barry for the cover of DNA #96. DNA: We've featured your work on DNAmagazine.com.au many times - how do you feel about entertaining our readers so much?Adam Bouska: It's amazing being able to work on hard on something you love and then being able to share that. I hear from readers all the time and that support pushes me to improve =)
DNA: Of course, you shot the great cover of DNA #96 with Ryan Barry. How was your first DNA cover shoot? How does it rank in your overall body of work?AB: Working with Ryan was a great experience. He's a beautiful person both inside and out. We had a lot of fun driving around to different locations and just having fun trying out different concepts. Definitely some of my better work.
DNA Your trademark is the quasi-metallic, colour saturated lens work. How did this evolve?AB: I feel that every time I shoot my work evolves in many aspects. Whether it be with
more unique concepts or better lighting. I'm always learning new ways innovate without changing my style completely, just learning how to perfect it.
DNA: Who have been your favourite models?AB: This is always a hard question for me because I'm great friends with many of my models. It's hard to rank them because each shoot was a completely different experience. But if I had to answer I'd say Ryan Barry, Marco Dapper, or James Ellis.
DNA: Who is your dream model?AB: I'm gonna say Jesse Metcalfe. Self explanatory yeah?
DNA: Ever been to Australia? If so, what did you think, and if not, would you lke to come and what do you imagine you'd find?AB: I haven't been before! I've been entertaining the idea of making a trip recently, so that may become a reality! I expect to find some attractive subjects with an Australian tan, that's for sure. :)
DNA: Who is Adam Bouska? Where does he live? What does he do when the camera is packed away?AB: West Hollywood currently. I tend to move around a lot. Majority of the time I'm in the studio looking through magazines or reviewing photos. I try to make the most of my free time but I'm fortunate to have my career as my passion. When I'm not working I spend time at the beach, working out, traveling, or playing games. ;)
DNA: Do you have a message for DNA readers?AB: Expect to see a lot more from me. I have a lot of big ideas and am determined to do a lot with my career.
