Gay footballer calls on AFL to tackle homophobia

Date: 10-Sep-2012

Jason Ball, an openly gay Aussie Rules player has urged the AFL to take a stand against homophobia by airing a No To Homophobia commercial during the 2012 Grand Final.

The country footballer has started an online campaign which has already attracted more than 5500 members.

Jason also hopes the grand final will implement a pride round next year.

We wish Jason the best of luck with the campaign and with his own grand final next Saturday.

Be sure to join Jason's online campaign here.

You can check out the no to homophobia commercial below and head to the ABC to watch an interview with Jason.

"Beyond Blue chairman and former Victorian premier Jeff Kennett is supporting the campaign."

Yeah! ... Right! ... And pigs might fly too. Who else finds that impossible to believe? :-/

"The AFL has issued a press release saying it supports anti-homophobia campaigns, but it has stopped short of explicitly backing calls for a pride round."

Typical bloody AFL. All talk & no action! }:-(
