The Pope has condemns gay equality laws in Britain ahead of a planned trip to the UK later this year, according to the Guardian. Pope Benedict XVI repeated a line he has often pursued, arguing that relationship equality runs contrary to "natural law".

US President Obama will work to repeal the Don't Ask, Don't Tell ban on gays in the military immediately, according to the New York Times. The paper reports that Obama has discussed the repeal with defence secretary Robert Gates and Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, over the past year.

Relationship Equality at Centrelink (1-Feb-2010)

More than 8000 couples in Australian have declared their same-sex status in order to receive the same access to welfare payments as opposite-sex couples. 'Same-sex couples now have the same entitlements and obligations as opposite-sex de facto couples,'' said Jenny Macklin, Federal Minister for Family and Community Services.
